Watch the zongzi demonstration from Chef Ken and Mama Yau
Anyone who has made zongzi, the iconic rice dish, knows the process requires a whole table due to its many ingredients.
Bowls upon bowls of ingredients: dried glutinous rice, mung beans, preserved sausage, salted egg yolks, shiitake mushrooms. All next to a stack of bamboo leaves.
Every family has their own take on zongzi, and it's a tradition passed down from generation to generation. Ken learned from his mother, and the duo showed off their skills in a demonstration over the Dragon Boat Celebration.
Zongzi are beloved because they hit so many different sensory notes, and they're as easy to prepare as boiling in hot water. A healthy, filling meal in under 20 minutes.
Stock up, and then have them on their own, or with alongside your favourite dumplings.
